Three artists and a poet met to further discuss ideas for the group. Some of us were part of a group of artists who drew Still-Lifes for 90 days in conjunction with the exhibit of Giorgio Morandi at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2008. At that time we posted our drawings in a blog called Still-Life Alliance. Although it got over 1,800 hits on the web, the work was never exhibited. This time, I proposed that we work in groups of artists and also with writers in the community, towards a goal of supporting and motivating each other in our creative endeavors. We will get inspiration from the Bloomsbury group of the early 20th Century, some of whose work we are able to view first hand at the Palmer Museum, and learn about through the lectures and movies being shown there. We might call it the Bloomsbury Connection. This project could go beyond the end of the exhibit, September 26, 2010, and perhaps spawn a group show or a Salon. We set up the next meeting in the hopes of getting more people to join us and bring ideas for this collaboration. Art work may be shared with poets and ideas for a name for the group may be suggested then, or e-mailed to the blog as a comment. KD

A few of us got together to brainstorm our new project. The first area we will concentrate on is Domestic Interiors. We are beginning by meeting to draw in a group (as did Roger Fry, Vanessa Bell, and Duncan Grant, who painted the same subjects side by side) and will also work on paintings individually. We will be reading and (informally) discussing books of the period, such as Mrs. Dalloway. The Palmer Museum is having a film series, and films are also available on Netflix. Hopefully all of us will see the exhibit, “A Room of One’s Own” early in its run and attend some of the lectures at the Museum. We will be posting art work, poetry, articles and information on the Bloomsbury Group.
